Maker’s Mark Special Tasting, Benefitting Rebuild Texas Fund

Levee at the River House is teaming up with Maker’s Mark to host a very special tasting event on Tuesday, September 26th from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Jane Bowie from Maker’s Mark will lead guests in a bourbon flight tasting that includes Maker’s Mark, Maker’s 46, Maker’s Mark Cask Strength, and the Varanese Maker’s Mark Private Select, which has a hand-picked flavor profile using a combination of custom oak finishing staves. Guests will also enjoy an Old Fashioned made with the Varanese Private Select, as well as bourbon-inspired cuisine.

Cox’s Smokers Outlet will also be on hand to offer a selection of premium cigars for sale. Levee’s expansive patio overlooking the Ohio River will be tented for this event, and it will be held rain or shine.

Tickets are $55 per person and will be available at the door or in advance by calling 502-897-5000. $5 of each ticket purchased will be donated to the Rebuild Texas Fund, which is working to aid communities affected by Hurricane Harvey by providing long-term recovery support in areas such as housing, childcare, and small business rebuilding.

The Varanese Maker’s Mark Private Select bourbon was aged in a barrel made with a combination of 2 Baked American Pure, 1 Seared French Cuvee, 1 Maker’s 46, 5 Roasted French Mocha, and 1 Toasted French Spice. The Varanese Private Select has a creamy mouthfeel with distinct undertones of mocha and a toasted spice finish. The only place to taste this matured, cask strength bourbon is at one of Chef John’s restaurants.

Lights, Camera, Levee! War for the Planet of the Apes

Levee at the River House and Louisville Film Society are partnering to host “Lights, Camera, Levee!” Outdoor Movie Nights

“Lights, Camera, Levee!” will feature a series of outdoor film screenings that will be free and open to the public. The screenings will take place on the expansive lawn and patio at Levee overlooking the river, and seating is limited so guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets.

The films will start at dark, around 8:30pm each night. Levee will also offer food and drink specials during the screenings.

The series kicks off on Sunday, September 17th with a screening of the 2017 science fiction film, War for the Planet of the Apes (rated PG-13), which is still showing in theaters, so this will be the first local free screening of the film.

The screening will be held rain or shine. If the weather is an issue we will move inside.

Upcoming screenings include:

The 1980 slasher film Friday the 13th (rated R) on Friday, October 13th
